Chiausi Ridge Facilities

I have converted an old steel barn that was used for cattle, to a kennel building. It is 72x30 feet and concrete inside and about 50 feet of concrete outside running the 72 foot length and pitched for drainage. Each kennel is at least 5’x 5’ inside the barn and 5’ x 20’ outside. A couple of runs are 5’ x 8’ inside and 8’ x 20’ outside. One 8’x20’ run I use for pups when they leave the whelping area, this gives them plenty of room to play and stretch their legs. I have water run to the barn, two hydrants outside and two inside, this helps a lot with the watering and cleaning.

As of now all the pups are whelped in the house. I am going to build a whelping room in the kennel building with heat, hopefully before the fall of 08. I have a secondary fence around the kennels which the dogs can run around in while I am cleaning the kennels but can’t get out of the kennel area. There is also an area of about one acre around the barns that is fenced for an exercise area and about a half acre fenced around the house that I use to keep certain dogs separated from each other.
